Recreation Aide

Salary Range:$10-13/hr.

Description:Assists Parks & Recreation Director and Deputy Director with all aspects of planning, organizing, and coordinating community recreation programs for youth, teens, and/or adults, including sports, enrichment programs, special events, and camps. The Rec Aide will also be responsible for assisting with other aspects of Parks & Rec activities including building and park rentals.

This position will work a combination of weekday evening and weekend hours up to 28 hours/week. Hours will be dependent on program/rental schedule.
Duties:Assists Parks & Recreation Directors in the development and implementation of community recreation programs including: youth and adult sports, enrichment classes, summer camps, facility rentals, and special events
• Responds to public inquiries about recreation programs made by telephone, email, or during public meetings.
• Assists with publication of a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications promoting recreation programs.
• Maintains related records and statistics for activities.
• Coordinates sports programs, acquires coaches and officials, assigns practice times, orders and distributes uniforms, schedules games and officials, creates and distributes schedules.
• Orders, inventories, cleans, and stores equipment and supplies.
• Plans, executes, and oversees special events. Purchases supplies and secures volunteers and/or paid staff for special events.
• Promotes interest and provides information regarding recreation programs to school officials, other recreation officials, community service groups, other departments, etc.
• May be responsible for building/park/pavilion and rental coverage including but not limited to: rental/room/program set-ups and light cleaning, restroom opening/closing.
• Performs other related work as assigned.
Qualifications:Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must demonstrate computer skills.
• Ability to work independently, to be flexible, and to work well with people is a must.
• Must have a valid state drivers’ license.
• Must have a clean driving record-subject to Parks & Recreation Department evaluation.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A) Passion for Parks & Recreation philosophy, planning, and administration.
B) Knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques used in a
comprehensive community recreation program.
C) Ability to develop, coordinate, and direct varied activities involved in a
community recreation program.
D) Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
E) Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships
with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors,
community leaders, and the general public.
F) Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
G) Must demonstrate exceptional organization skills and be flexible with the ability to multi-task.
H) Must be able to work independently and in a team atmosphere.
I) Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet various

K) Database & Customer Relations Management Software skills recommended.
L) Ability to collaborate over cloud-based software like Microsoft 365 recommended.
N) Ability to lift 50 pounds required.
